Getting Out of Your Own Way
Originally, Hannah was going to use the residency with L’Air Arts to inform her teaching practice of medical illustration. Paris is known for its interdisciplinary approach to the arts, and is a culture which appreciates the beauty and obscurity of medicine and the body. Since this research project has not yet come into fruition, Hannah’s artist talk focuses on the struggle of teaching people who don’t identify as creative how to ‘get out of their own way’.
She shows student work and shows how once her students shed their limiting beliefs of themselves they were able to create beautiful things. In the end she briefly goes over a few techniques to get rid of blocks that face anyone pursuing a creative endeavor.
Special thanks to L’AiR Arts Paris.
